To Give is Better than to Receive

This is the lesson to be learned from a recent donation to the Alexandra Marine & General Hospital Foundation.

Abigail Ball turned nine years old at the end of June. She celebrated with a backyard full of friends and then they headed to the beach and even braved the cold Lake Huron water. But they did something a little different when it came to birthday gifts. Abigail asked for donations to the AMGH Foundation’s All In…for your health campaign. “I got the idea for donations from a friend who did it, but I couldn’t go to her party. And I didn’t need any presents” shared Abigail. Abigail presented the Foundation with a donation of $125.

“It seems that we have a growing number of thoughtful and generous young donors who want to make a difference in their community. It’s really amazing and I hope they realize what a big difference they are making. It is inspiring” shared Shannon LaHay, AMGH Foundation Executive Director.

The Foundation is excited to announce that they have reached 85% of their goal of raising $3.5 million for the All In…for your health capital campaign, to replace the aging CT Scanner and refurbish the inpatient Mental Health and Addictions Unit at the Alexandra Marine & General Hospital. When the campaign reaches 90%, the AMGH Foundation will be publishing the names of every donor that has contributed to reaching that milestone. Abigail Ball’s name will be on that list of the many donors who are supporting quality health care close to home.
